Not seen anything yet; been stuffing turkey down, and drinking red wine.

Amazing, if you have the ability to land the ball on a very small table cloth you may be able to play test cricket. Otherwise, don't bother.

Before that, if you can't bowl above 135km try bowling spin.

Typical, Pakistan win the toss and bowl.

Raval edges Amir for 4 first ball
Beats the bat 2nd ball
Dropped at first slip 3rd ball
Nearly bowls him 4th ball
Leading edge for a single on the 5th ball
Latham caught at first slip 6th ball

Pretty good start Amir.

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
I love watching test cricket for that exact reason VH - T20 is less an examination of a batsmans technique and more an examination of how good at swinging across the line he is, and even ODI's are now heading that way a little bit.

Pretty wet in Hamilton today, so not much chance of play. Pitch looks quite green, although not worryingly so.

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
I enjoyed watching Cook. He looked like he could get out to any ball, then he got out to one of at least 10 no-balls and was reprieved. After that, he started moving his feet.

Contrast that with both Duminy and Faf, whose foot work was really good, Faf especially. reassured, positive, all in the right place.

Test cricket is such a forensic examination of batsmen. As a bowler (you are close to not being able to see what's happening down the other end because your head is facing down) so you rely on what the batsman does and what fielders tell you. Guesswork for bowlers, but if you get the ball in the right place.......

I agree.

More fans all over the world should be like the NZ fans.

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
Personally I have never booed anyone at a Test match and although I can understand him getting a mixed reaction when he came out ( he was found guilty of ball tampering & refuses to accept any responsibility) I don't believe it should go further than that.
Especially after he makes a 100.

If only everyone was like the NZ fans who applaud respectfully when Australian players play well against them.

Ha ha ha

So, are ALL Aussies fans complete dickheads then Sven, or only most?

Blimey, dry your eyes Jonah.
Being rattled around by an earthquake seems to have turned you into an even bigger jessie.

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
Yeah it would seem to. He reckons it was the best hundred of his career. Even better than the other year where he batted for hours to save a test.

Of course, that's probably just a little metaphorical two-finger salute to the arsehole Aussie fans and media who've harassed him and booed him.

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
Commentators thought booing Faf wound him up a bit more. 'Spose 100 confirms that.

Of course, I suggested declaring a few hours earlier.

Warner had a shoulder problem? Was the problem they couldn't find any shoulders? He's like an arrow with Downs syndrome.

Good booing of Faf you classy Aussies.

Maybe he doesn't care about their race?

Unusual in Australia, I know.

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
Very clever by FdP. Must be the first out of the box thinking by the saffas for about half a century. Apart from Warner missing, there's a 20 year old starting his first test. Australia were annoyed, yet every single commentator was talking about an early declaration and what a good idea it was. That was before the Warner issue.

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
As said the plan in day/night cricket seems to be to get the other team to start their innings in the post-dinner session.
You'd think but .....seems Warner had been off the field getting treatment for a shoulder injury and he only declared because he overheard Smith and Warner asking the umpire whether he had been back on the field long enough to be allowed to bat straight away.

Too busy trying to tweak the rules and then doesn't notice that Australia sent a Pakistani and an Englishman out to bat.
Ha !

Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
Very cheeky declaration by Faf, especially when he's 118 not out. KP should never be allowed to commentate again. He is utter fucking shit.

Sven Roeder 9:35 Thu Nov 24
Re: 1st Test: India v England at Rajkot
The secret of day night cricket seems to be to make the other team bat in the final session when the ball moves around.
Still think they should have another 3 years of testing and ball improvement before having Tests but the CA marketing department like having 120,000 attend 3 days and Channel 9 want to broadcast cricket in the evening in the eastern states so the players have been completely ignored.

As I recall last year NZ only batted in daylight, Starc only bowled 9 overs in the match due to injury and the dismal Kiwis still lost.

They go to Brisbane for a day night Test v Pakistan next which will be even more of a lottery if they get some rain & humidity.

157 is probably enough. They should declare.

Oz on top in this test, though looks like all the nonsense has wound Faf up in a positive way, as he's 62 NO out of the 157-6 total.

My favourite sweet incident was the jelly bean fiasco of 2007.

What's so annoying about a jelly bean?
